  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold
  • 3 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • colored sugar: orange, yellow, red and green


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (177 C).
  2. Cut the cold butter into small cubes.
  3. In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, add the cubed butter and softened cream cheese. Using a paddle attachment, mix on Low speed until well-combined, approximately 1 minute.
  4. While mixing on Medium speed, add the egg yolk.
  5. Gradually add the sugar and mix until light and fluffy, approximately 2 minutes.
  6. Add the vanilla and mix well.
  7. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and salt.
  8. Gradually add the sifted flour while mixing on Low speed. Scrape around the bowl and mix until well incorporated, approximately 2-3 minutes.
  9. Place dough in the cookie press with the desired disk. Press dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  10. Sprinkle cookies with assorted colored sugar.
  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through the baking time so the cookies brown evenly.

  12. Use a spatula to transfer the hot cookies to a wire rack.
  13. Allow to cool for a few minutes before enjoying.
