Progressive International Stainless-Steel Magnetic Measuring Spoons, Set of 5 – Double-ended spoons–what a brillant idea! The elongated end works well in small jars and the rounded ends are good all-purpose spoons. I love that this set comes with a 1/2 Tbsp. The best thing is the spoons are magnetic so they can nest together neatly in a drawer.
OXO Good Grips Measuring Spoons, Stainless Steel – This is a good basic set and an essential cooking tool for every cook.
Norpro 18/10 Stainless Steel Measuring Spoon Set – A very good set that includes more than the basic measurements. The unique rectangle shaped-spoons make it easy to get into smaller spice jars.
Amco Measuring Spoons for Small Amounts – This set is so cute and contains spoons for pinch, drop, smidge and hint.
OXO Good Grips Medium Cookie Scoop – Great for portioning and scooping meatballs, dough balls, ice cream, etc., this is a wonderful multi-purpose cooking and serving tool.
Norpro 155 Stainless Steel Mini Meatballer – Make perfectly shaped meatballs, mung bean balls or cake pops with this tool.
OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener – There’s no need to clutter up a counter with an electric can opener. This one does a great job and fits neatly in a drawer.
OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler – Nice and sharp with a smooth peeling action, this is a fantastic peeler to have.
OXO Good Grips Garlic Press – When you need freshly minced garlic but don’t want to do it by hand, this tool does the job easily.
12″ Asian style Rolling Pin *Smooth Wooden Surface* – A must-have item, it’s great for rolling dough for dumplings, pastries and biscuits. Small and thin, it doesn’t take up a lot of room in a drawer.
Tovolo 12-Inch Solid Silicone Spoon, Pink – The cute factor factor is what sold me on this product. I love the pink color! 🙂 It’s a solid spoon with a generously-sized head.
Tovolo 13-Inch Tip Top Tongs, Pink – Another colorful item, the silicone tips are generous and make gripping foods easy.
OXO SoftWorks Salad Spinner – The work horse of cooking tools in my kitchen, I use this to spin salad, herbs, veggies and noodles. It comes in 2 sizes, large and small and, of course, I have both.
Benriner Japanese Mandoline Slicer – A nice compact and inexpensive mandoline, it has 3 changeable blades and is great for shredding vegetables and fruit for salads, pickles, etc…
Pro Smart Slicer – Simple and Easy to Use – An awesome mandoline, it has a 4-position rotating blade for thick slices, thin slices, thick julienne, thin julienne and a stationary blade. This one tool does it all and there’s no need to swap out blades.
Paula Deen Signature Pantryware Wooden Pie and Cutting Board – This large, sturdy cutting and pastry board has a really nice finish. The big surface is great for rolling out dough and the imprinted measurements are super helpful.
Salter 1020 Aquatronic Electronic Kitchen Scale – When precision matters, this scale does the trick. It’s small and compact and essential for weighing ingredients to get a recipe just right.
OXO Good Grips Digital Timer – A mandatory cooking tool in every kitchen, this one doesn’t take up a lot of space on the counter or stove and can easily fit in a utensil drawer when not in use.
OXO Good Grips Two-Fold Grater – This has 2 shredding blades: one for fine shredding and the other for grating. It does a wonderful job with mung bean, fresh coconut, potatoes, etc…
OXO Good Grips Lemon Zester – Fresh lemon adds such a pop of flavor and color to any dish. This tool makes it easy to add zest to your dishes.
Kom Kom Miracle Zig Zag (Julienne Blade) Thai Multi Purpose Knife – This is the culinary version of the survival knife. It juliennes, engraves, peels, and cores fruits and vegetables. I use it to shred papaya for a beautiful looking salad.
Oxo Good Grips Nylon Ladle – I find myself reaching for this cooking utensil quick a bit because the ladle is such a generous size. It’s perfect for filling a large bowl with lots of hearty soup or broth.
OXO Good Grips Salt and Pepper Grinder Set – Enjoy freshly ground salt or pepper quickly and easily with this set. What’s unique about these is there are multiple settings to control the grind from fine to coarse.
Norpro 2-Piece Stainless Steel Turkey Lifter Tenderizer – No more worry about dropping the bird on the floor. They’re the extra pair of hands you need when serving turkey.
Joie Fruit And Vegetable Wavy Chopper Knife Stainless Steel Blade – This wavy cut knife is a fun way to add texture and pop to cut vegetables, fruit and agar agar jelly.
Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 5.5 Inch Hollow Edge Santoku – The most-used cooking tool in my kitchen, the Santoku is an essential kitchen knife. If you want just one multi-purpose knife, this one is the most versatile and best quality.
Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 7-Inch Vegetable Cleaver – I used this to chop the harder vegetables like squash, pumpkins, etc. I also use the back to crack open fresh coconuts and chop Crispy Roast Pork.
Coconut Shredder Handy Scraper Portable Grater Tools – Use this nifty tool to hand grate coconuts. It has two ends for coconut shreds or coconut slices.
Dish Plate (Steamer) Clips – This is such a handy cooking tool for removing dishes, plates and pans from the steamer. Not very expensive, this is an item everyone should have. No more scalded hands trying to remove a plate or pan from the steamer.
Cups and Bowls
OXO Good Grips Measuring Cups, Stainless Steel, Updated Design – A kitchen essential, these measuring cups are a good quality. I have the older design which Oxo doesn’t make anymore. I love the wide handles and the curvy shape in this new design.
Pyrex Prepware 1-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements – A good measuring cup for liquid measurements is needed for every well-stocked kitchen. This one has both imperial and metric measurements.
Pyrex Prepware 1-Quart Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements – Measuring up to 4 cups, this is awesome for recipes requiring medium quantities of liquids. I use it most frequently for measuring liquids for batters and braised dishes.
Pyrex Prepware 8-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Lid and Measurements – This measuring cup is really handy for those larger liquid measurements like water or stock for soups, vegetables for stews and stir-fries. I also use this big cup to measure and mix batters. The fitted lid is the whole reason I bought this item. For recipes requiring the batter to rest, I pop on the cover to prevent dust or contaminates from getting in.
Libbey 6-1/2-Ounce Small Bowl with Plastic Lid, Set of 12 – These little bowls have a multitude of uses from pinch or snack bowls to molds for making jellied foods like this Jellied Pork recipe. They’re also great for storing any smaller amounts of leftover foods or sauces.
Cooking and Grilling
ZWILLING Spirit 3-ply 10-pc Stainless Steel Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set – a new purchase to replace my 15-year old Anolon cookware, this set is beautifully designed with polished stainless steel and grey ceramic interior, is easy to use and keep clean. No excessive scrubbing is needed to remove sticky food residue and the cookware is dishwasher safe. The 3-ply metal construction makes it worthy of professional-grade cookware and gives the cookware a solid and weighty feel. The downside to these pots and pans is they can become a heavy, especially when fully loaded.
12 inch 3-Tier Aluminum Steamer – This is an essential cooking tool for every kitchen. Steaming is a really healthy and convenient way to cook foods. This steamer is large with 2 levels so you can steam a little or a lot of food.
Lodge Logic LPGI3 Pro Grid Cast Iron Grill/Griddle – When it’s too cold to grill outside, this indoor grill does the job. It’s great for grilling whole pieces of meat, as well as skewers and kebabs. The solid surface griddle can be used for frying Sticky Rice Cakes or making pancakes. The cast iron surface get super hot and cooks foods fast. Don’t forget to season the cast iron pan before using it the first time.
12-Inch Long Stainless Steel Skewers, Barbecue Skewers, BBQ Skewers, Shish Kebab Kabob Skewers, Ring-Tip Handle, 1-Dozen – If you like making kebobs and skewers, these steel skewers are a great purchase. They are long so you can fit lots of food on them. Stainless steel skewers requires no pre-soaking in water like the bamboo ones and are easy to clean.
Charcoal Companion Non-stick Kabob Grilling Rack, with Six 13-Inch Skewers – another great grilling tool, this rack keeps the skewers in place for even cooking. Brillant!
Bayou Classic 0880-PDQ Stainless-Steel Beercan ChickCAN Rack – A fan of 5-Spice Beer Can Chicken (Ga Nuong Ngu Vi Huong), you’ll want to invest in this sturdy stand instead of just using the beer can which has a tendency to tip over.
Anchor Hocking Oven Basics 2 Piece Value Pack includes 2 Quart and 3 Quart Baking Dishes, Crystal Clear – These 2 sizes are very useful and versatile. They can be used to prep, cook and serve. How convenient is that?!
Wilton Recipe Right Fluted Tube Pan – A really nice pan to have for sponge cakes and sweet breads. It has a good non-stick surface. The fluted design is simple and elegant.
Wilton 2105-6816 Perfect Results Nonstick Lasagna Pan, 14 by 10-Inch – I love the size of this pan because it’s bigger than most standard baking pans. I use it for recipes requiring water baths and, of course, for lasagna.
Fat Daddio’s Anodized Aluminum 8 Inch x 3 Inch Round Springform Cake Pan – This springform cake pan has a nice wide base. It’s easy to hold onto and the elevated platform is useful for cakes baked in a water bath. Even a little water seepage won’t run the cake as the bottom sits up higher. The sides are 3-inches high which is perfect for cakes with height like sponge cakes or cheesecakes. The pan is a sturdy aluminum and really light weight. Love it!
Chicago Metallic Non-Stick 8-Inch Springform Pan – Unlike a lot of springform pans that lose the tension over time, this one is strong. The coated surface is just enough to be non-stick but still allows the cake to climb the walls for a nice height.
KitchenAid Gourmet Nonstick Bakeware 12-Cup Uncovered Muffin and Cupcake Pan with Red Anti-Slip Grips – Love the handles on this muffin pans, no more smashing your delicate cupcakes with big oven gloves!
Cuisinart AMB-17BS 17-Inch Chef’s Classic Nonstick Bakeware Baking Sheet – Originally I bought just one but liked the baking sheet so much, I purchased another. The metal is thick making it a sturdy pan. The half sheet is the perfect size for making Roll Cakes and baking cookies.
Silpat Non-Stick Baking Mat, 11 5/8 x 16 1/2-inches, Half Sheet Size – I love these mats. They provide a really nice non-adhering surface and a great way to make any baking pan non-stick.
Pyrex Bakeware 4.8 Quart Oblong Baking Dish, Clear – Another essential baking dish, this one is a must for family make-ahead meals and preparing dishes with generous servings, 8-10 or more.
Freshware CB-305 12-Pack Flower Silicone Reusable Baking Cup – Such a precious look and fun shape, these silicone cups can be used for baking or steaming.
Wilton Recipe Right 2 Piece 9 Inch Round Pan Set – These are all-around nice pans to have in your bakeware collection. They have a non-stick surface and are solidly constructed.
Heavy-Duty 1/4 Size Cooling Rack, Cooling Racks, Wire Pan Grade, Commercial grade, Oven-safe, Chrome, 8 x 10 Inches, Set of 2 – These are oven-safe and I use them for baking and roasting. I really like the feet which elevate the racks slightly. It’s perfect when using the steam-bake method.
Baker’s Secret 1061483 10-by-16-Inch Nonstick Cooling Rack, Set of 2 – This is a good and inexpensive set to have and doesn’t take up much room. They’re great for smaller baking jobs.
Nordic Ware Round Cooling Rack, 13.25 Inch Diameter – A must if you make round cakes, this rack is generously sized.
Baker’s Secret Three Tier Cooling Rack – During the holiday season, this rack gets lots of use as I bake dozens of cookies. The tiers take up less counter space and hold a lot of cookies.
Epoca Turkey Roaster with Rack Cookware – I’ve had this roaster for over 14 years and it’s really durable. It’s extra-large–much larger than most roasting pans and can easily fit a 25 lb turkey.
Tiger JKT-S10-U-K IH Rice Cooker with Slow Cooker and Bread Maker Stainless Steel, 5 1/2 cups – my recently purchased and most used kitchen appliance. This multi-functional rice cooker is a champ at making rice. There are lots of innovative features to test out with your favorite recipes.
Zojirushi NSRNC10FZ Automatic Rice Cooker and Warmer 5.5-Cup/1.0-Liter, Spring Bouquet – This is the first rice cooker I purchased and it’s lasted for 20+ years. Nothing fancy or high-tech, it gets the job done with just 2 functions: Cook and Keep Warm. Rice cooks fast in this cooker, just 20 minutes. I also use it to cook mung bean and steam veggies. Love it!
Cuisinart DLC-2A Mini-Prep Plus Food Processor – This is great for small jobs like mincing garlic, shallots, lemongrass and mixing sauces and marinades. It’s also powerful enough to handle small amounts of ground meat for making fillings and meatballs.
West Bend 84915 5-Quart Oblong-Shaped Slow Cooker with Tote – The one I have is actually round but it appears they only sell this oblong shape now. What sold me on this slow cooker is the removable pot which makes it super easy to clean.
Presto 06006 Kitchen Kettle Multi-Cooker/Steamer – This is my fryer for egg rolls. An electric fryer is necessary when you have to fry temperature-sensitive foods. Just set the desired temperature and the fryer self-regulates, adjusting the heat as needed. No more over or under-fried foods!
KitchenAid K45SS Classic 275-Watt 4 1/2 Quart Stand Mixer – An amazing kitchen appliance, this is the best kitchen helper. It’s a task master when it comes to mixing cake batters, whipping eggs and kneading dough. With attachments like the meat grinder, vegetable shredder and slicer, pasta maker and ice cream maker, it becomes a truly versatile kitchen appliance that is designed to perform. The stand mixer I have is over 30 years old!
KitchenAid K45DH Dough Hook Replacement for KSM90 and K45 Stand Mixer – The hook attachment is used to knead dough for breads, dumplings and other doughy treats. No more tired and sore arms kneading by hand. Yeah! 🙂
Vitamix 7500 – Hands down, this is the best and most powerful blender I’ve ever used. It mixes, blends and purees easily with it’s super strong motor. It’s a champ at crushing and blending ice for smoothie and icy drinks. The low-profile, fits under a cabinet when on the counter, was a big selling point for me. This blender is expensive but worth the price and probably the only blender I’ll ever need.
Hamilton Beach 59765 2 Speed Hand Blender – This hand blender is suitable for small jobs when you don’t want to bring out the larger hand mixer. It’s great for whipping dressings, sauces, eggs, custards and soft fillings.
Hamilton Beach 62695V Power Deluxe Hand Mixer – The newer model of my mixer, this one has 6-speeds. A nice basic mixer that is useful for mixing batter, whipping potatoes, etc… It’s great for mixing smaller amounts of food when you don’t want to drag out the stand mixer.
Hamilton Beach Steel 7.2-Cup Kettle – Have hot water for a cup of coffee or tea in about 1 minute. It’s compact and takes up less counter space than the traditional hot pots.
KitchenAid BCG100WH Blade Coffee Grinder, White – Great for grinding up coffee and spices, the metal bowl is a nice feature because it doesn’t absorb food odor.
Cuisinart DLC-2011CHBY Prep 11 Plus 11-Cup Food Processor – A good multi-function food processor for the home cook. The motor is better than average but you have to be careful not to overwork it when processing lots of heavy foods and meats.
Cuisinart DLC-834TX Fine Shredding Disc, Fits 7 and 11-Cup Processors – These shredding blades reduce prep time to seconds versus minutes of hand chopping and shredding. The discs clean easily, a quick rinse with soap and water, and are also dish-washer safe.
Clean, Store and Organize
Culinary Accessories – Odor Remover Bar (Removes odors from hands), Stainless Steel – It seems gimmicky but really works. Just a few rubs, like washing your hands with a bar of soap, and no more garlicy, oniony or fishy smelling hands. 🙂
The OriginalTM Dish Drying Mat XL Microfiber Absorbent Machine Washable Fast Drying 18″X24″ Multipurpose Extra Large – Not everything can fit or be washed in the dishwasher and for these just hand-washed items, they can have a nice and absorbent resting spot on these drying mats.
Tovolo Three Pigs Pan Scrapers, Set of 3 – So adorable, these pan scrapers are great for removing baked-on, crusted-on food so you don’t risk damaging the surface of pots and pans with sharper more abrasive tools. Made of a flexible plastic, they are strong yet bendable.
Seville Classics Bamboo 16-1/2-Inch by 13.4-Inch Cutting Board, 7-Multi-Color Mats – What an amazing design! You get the cleanliness of having separate cutting boards in a compact and attractive design. The cutting board is really good size and nice enough to leave on the counter.
